This will not work on police hand cuffs. And I do not know any police department that wouldn't use the newer models with the bottom second lock where you need to shove the key all the way up to unloack the cuffs.

    LOL. Chuck Norris!! LOL.

    But great video though.

Great... except that most police departments now use thick plastic zip-ties that are nearly impossible to break.

now let see the video where i whoop your ass for doing something stupid like that, or the video where you get out of the back seat of the squad that can only be opened from the outside.

Zipties are great in a pinch, but if the perp is able to get away, they can get someone to cut the ties pretty easily. Breaking cuffs on the other hand...

Will not work on british Speedcuffs obviously, as the US still use crappy old style ones.

The handcuffs I was cuffed with were not like these...instead of a chain holding the two cuffs together, there were these rather unflexible metal links, making it difficult, if not impossible, to manuvre your fingers to unlock it.

My name is Jim Volter, police officer. Thank you so this information. We will do our best to make sure nobody escaped.

    cool! i'll try this

Hi Jim, if you are a cop and not just a trolling moron (you could be both I suppose). Here's hoping some psycho reads your pompous post and gives you exactly what you deserve on the job, a black eye and/or broken bones.

Okay, magicians didn't use the modern handcuffs, so this trick will not work with and Police handcuffs in the US or Canada. Jum Volter, you're not a cop or else you would already know about this trick - it's taught in basic academy. Also your English sucks, so you're probably only 10 years old.

And technically, the English Speed cuffs have a higher fail rate than the American Handcuffs, so you can ours old and crappy if you want but you're only making yourself look like a fool.

Nice trick if you have some 60 year old handcuffs sitting around, otherwise don't risk going to jail even longer.

These are NOT old handcuffs. They are currently manufactured by Smith & Wesson, and are used by many officials in law enforcement and corrections.
I collect handcuffs and entertain as an escapist. This technique will work on many modern cuffs that use a standard cuff key, including Peerless, Hiatt, ASP, and Chicago brand cuffs.
The fallback to this technique is that the pick often breaks when trying to unlock the double lock, because this takes more force.
I use this technique as an "awe getter" during performance, as it wows the audience to learn how simple an escape can be.

Well, maybe it won't work in Beverly Hils. Unfortunately, we have a budget and we are only issued ONE set of cuffs. We have to go to the gun shop and buy additional sets. I gave three additional sets and they are the S&W just like the ones in the video. Furthermore, the one that are Dept issued are exactly the same.
I guess you'd just try it and hope that you are jacked-up in some poor area that uses regular old standard police issue cuffs.

hey now, that is definitely a nice trick
