Holiday in the Home of Mickey Mouse in USA!

11:17 PM by Van Hahne · 0 comments

Holidays to the USA can be a joyful experience. With 50 states, one federal state and many territories to visit, one can never fully cover the surface area of the country. Not forgetting too, it is the place where famous disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Minnie Mouse are born.

Why not visit the 3rd most populous state, New York! From Historic landmarks to Broadway theaters to hundreds of museums. Attractions are everywhere! Take a flight to New York, and you will find yourself landing at JFK Airport. New York weekend breaks can also rejuvenate your energy level as it is one of the best places to do some serious shopping in the world.

Ever watched the new year's countdown on TV and wondered where that place is? Most likely you're seeing the Times Square. It is the most famous New year's Eve countdown site in the world.

Or have you seen the Statue of Liberty in the movie X-Men? Now is the time to visit it for real. Everything is in New York!

Across the USA, is Orlando. A cheap flight to Orlando is possible with the many airlines that serve the county. It is home to the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando.

Walt Disney World Resort is in fact, a major recreational resort with four theme parks. In addition to that, the resort contains two water parks, six golf courses, a sports complex, an auto race track, twenty resort hotels and numerous shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings. It even has its own fire department.

Now, with so much to do and see in the USA, and the summer holidays are here, why not consider it as a holiday destination? Act Now!

Microsoft unveils new Surface computer

9:59 PM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

Microsoft Corp. has taken the wraps off "Surface," a coffee-table shaped computer that responds to touch and to special bar codes attached to everyday objects.

The machines, which Microsoft planned to debut Wednesday at a technology conference in Carlsbad, Calif., are set to arrive in November in T-Mobile USA stores and properties owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and Harrah's Entertainment Inc.

Surface is essentially a Windows Vista PC tucked inside a shiny black table base, topped with a 30-inch touchscreen in a clear acrylic frame. Five cameras that can sense nearby objects are mounted beneath the screen. Users can interact with the machine by touching or dragging their fingertips and objects such as paintbrushes across the screen, or by setting real-world items tagged with special bar-code labels on top of it.

Unlike most touchscreens, Surface can respond to more than one touch at a time. During a demonstration with a reporter last week, Mark Bolger, the Surface Computing group's marketing director, "dipped" his finger in an on-screen paint palette, then dragged it across the screen to draw a smiley face. Then he used all 10 fingers at once to give the face a full head of hair.

With a price tag between $5,000 and $10,000 per unit, Microsoft isn't immediately aiming for the finger painting set. (The company said it expects prices to drop enough to make consumer versions feasible in three to five years.)

A Tiger new Best Friend

Zoo-keepers in China say they were shocked when a group of tiger cubs made friends with some newborn chicks.Tiger and Chicks Playing TogetherWorkers at Zhejiang Wenling Zoo in Taizhou city put the chicks in a cage with the four month-old tiger cubs.

A zoo spokesman told People's Daily: "We wanted to bring out the savage nature of the tigers while they were still cubs."

But keepers were surprised to see the tigers initially shy away nervously from the chickens.

"Then in no time, they started playing together. Maybe in their eyes, there are no enemies, only friends," added the spokesman.

Weird Things People Keep In Jars

11:16 PM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

People keep all kinds of weird things in jars. From Habu snakes, to one-eyed pigs, to human penises!, here are some of the weirdest. This is in London.
Head
In Laos, they put snakes in jars to make whiskey.
Laos
In Vietnam, they call it wine...
Vietnam
...and they use cobras.
cobras
Generally, animals seem to be popular things to keep in jars. This monkey can be found in Tulane University's Museum of Natural History.

You can see this bottle of fish, there too.

You can see this octopus in Vienna's Natural History Museum. Looks like a crazy wig.

Ugh...bugs. In jars. Some of which are hairy. Ugh.

Nicaraguans like to put snakes in jars, too.
Nic
Some Japanese make their sake with poisonous Habu snakes.

People also like to keep aliens in jars! These aliens are in jars in Canada.

Oh wait -- I think these are just ginseng.
aliens!
Snakes are things for Ecuadorians to put in jars, too.
Ecuador
Oddly, some people keep people in jars. This guy in Taiwan actually seems very happy.

And these women on the Great Barrier Reef seem absolutely thrilled to be in jars.

However, not all people in jars appear so happy. These kids in Scandinavia seem like they're keeping things pretty bottled up.

Check out this kid in Mexico. He looks like he's about to sneeze.
Mexico
I guess this guy couldn't fit inside the jar, so they just stuck his left leg -- afflicted with elephantiasis -- in the jar. Poor guy.

Ick...in Cairo.

Also in Cairo:

Can't blame the Egyptians, though, because this baby is in Belhaven Memorial Museum, in NC.

This "cyclops swine" can be found in NC, too!

And, finally, I don't know what this guy is doing carrying his own penis in a jar! Egad!

Woman seeks fame as face of Chairman Mao

10:56 PM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

Chen Yan waves at a crowd of onlookers bemused at seeing China's late helmsman, Mao Zedong, brought back to life by a middle-aged woman.

Chen, 51, from Mianyang, in China's southwestern province of Sichuan, has been dressing up as Mao since she was discovered on a local TV show in 2005 impersonating another actor who had played Mao in movies.

"I was impersonating (the actor) when the beautician saw some similarities between me and Mao," Chen said, as make-up artists fussed over her in a Mianyang hair salon.

The beautician saw a dollar to be made in Chen's prominent cheekbones and imperious demeanor, and invited her for a make-over, she said.

Suited up in a grey, button-up waistcoat, Chen looks similar to the man who ruled China with an iron grip for decades, and is happy to ham it up for the cameras.

But the effortless poses belie fastidious preparations behind the scenes.

Chen spends up to 800 yuan on make-up and styling to create Mao's famous receding hairline.

Miss Universe 2007 Winner is Riyo Mori from Japan

7:19 PM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

Miss Universe 2007 Winner is Riyo Mori from JapanOn Monday night, a 20-year-old dancer from Japan was crowned Miss Universe 2007, marking only the second time her country has won the world beauty title. Dressed in a black, red and purple Japanese-style gown, Riyo Mori nervously grabbed the hands of first runner-up, Natalia Guimaraes of Brazil, just before the winner was announced in Mexico City. Then she threw her hands up and covered her mouth, overcome with emotion.

But she gathered herself together enough to catch the diamond-and-pearl-studded headpiece as it slipped off her head when Miss Universe 2006 Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico crowned her. Mori immediately placed the tiara back on her head. Women and their diamonds, you know.

The last time Japan won the pageant was in 1959 when Akiko Kojima became the first Miss Universe from Asia.

Towel dropping wife!

11:27 PM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

Towel dropping wife!A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor.

Before she says a word, Bob says, “I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel.”

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.
After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks,…“Who was that?”

“It was Bob the next door neighbor,” she replies.

“Great!” the husband says, “Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?”
