11 Weird Uses of Vodka

12:25 AM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

Vodka has been enjoyed since at least the early Middle Ages, and is well known as one of the world’s most popular spirits. Its versatility in mixing and high alcohol content have made it extremely popular in cocktails, and it is still widely enjoyed ‘neat’ (straight up) in much of Eastern and Northern Europe. Watch out for these weird uses of vodka.

1. Why Not Just Drink It?

Vodka also has a long history of use as medicine, having been sold by druggists to cure everything from infertility to colic and the plague. While some of those historic promoters were half-cocked, it’s true that vodka has a wide range of potential uses beyond serving as a relaxer and social lubricant.
Why would you want to do anything else with vodka but drink it? It is widely available, effective and less toxic than many of the chemical alternatives you might use for these tasks.

Inter Milan complete treble, Diego Milito embarrasses defenders

10:50 AM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

They won Serie A, they won the Coppa Italia, and now Inter Milan have completed the rare feat of a treble by winning the Champions League -- their first European Cup since 1965 -- by taking out the English champions (Chelsea), the Spanish champions (Barcelona), and the German champions (Bayern Munich) along the way.

Though Inter had a tremendous performance from goalkeeper Julio Cesar and others, Man of the Match honors would probably have to go to their Argentine striker, Diego Milito, who scored all the pretty goals in the 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in Madrid. Milito's second goal was particularly painful for Bayern since he completely destroyed defender Daniel van Buyten to seal up the lead in the 70th minute. It's amazing van Buyten's ankles didn't fall off on that one (although any confidence he had certainly did).

Armstrong crashes during Tour of California

4:59 PM by mr. simplicity · 0 comments

Lance Armstrong is going to the hospital for X-rays after crashing during the Tour of California.

Team spokesman Philippe Maertens says Armstrong got stitches in his left elbow and under his left eye.

Armstrong’s longtime coach Johan Bruyneel tweeted Thursday that Armstrong was involved in a “huge” crash and had to quit the race.

The cyclists were on a two-lane road outside Visalia a few miles into the race when a rider in the main group skidded on some gravel and fell, causing others, including Armstrong, to crash.

Afterward, Armstrong sat on the ground with his legs spread out, his elbows on his knees and his hands on his face. His left cheek was bloodied in the wreck, and his left eye appeared swollen.

The Australian woman who attacked her husbands, killed her last one and served him as dinner for his kids

The first Australian woman to be sentenced to a natural life term without parole, Katherine Knight, had a history of violence in relationships. She mashed the dentures of one of her ex-husbands and slashed the throat of another husband's eight-week-old puppy before his eyes. A heated relationship with John Charles Thomas Price became public knowledge with an Apprehended Violence Order that Price had filed against Knight. She stabbed Mr Price 37 times with a butcher's knife before skinning him and hanging his hide from a meat hook in their lounge room back in 2000. She then decapitated him and put his head in a pot on the stove, baked flesh from his buttocks and cooked vegetables and gravy as side dishes to serve to Mr Price's children. Police found the macabre dinner before the adult children arrived home.

The man who is selling daily ad space on his T-shirt

A t-shirt a day has kept unemployment at bay for an American man who is making about $ 90,000 a year by selling advertising space on his torso. Jason Sadler, 26, a former marketing professional from Florida, founded his own company, www.iwearyourshirt.com, in 2008 with the idea of wearing a T-shirt supplied by any company and then use social media tools to promote the firm. For his human billboard service, Mr Sadler charges the “face value” of the day so January 1 costs $1, while December 31 costs $365. Mr Sadler said this may not sound like a lot but it adds up to $66,795 a year if he sells out every day, which he did this year. He also sells monthly sponsorships for $1,500, adding another $18,000 to his income.
